There has never been a better time to support Black creators. In the past couple years, interest in supporting Black art, business, and entrepreneurship has increased. This has also translated over into social media. However, Black creators consistently are under supported and funded compared to their counterparts. Below, are some recommendations for ten Black creators to follow in the areas of entertainment, comedy, fashion, medicine, and more.

Close friends Christen “Chrissy” Marbury and Natalie “Lee” Elliott host a fun, informative, and entertaining show. While it initially started as a platform to celebrate plus-sized beauty, it has since evolved into so much more. Pop culture, fashion, travel, and history are just some of the topics these two ladies delve into with wit, style, and swag. Traditionally in the popular landscape, much hasn’t been known about Rhode Island’s hip-hop and urban culture. RayyyL has been a heavy contributor to changing this narrative. As an event curator, he hosts hundreds of partygoers at his weekly Smooth Sundays events. He’s since turned that initial one into a variety of events that get everyone in the Providence area catching a vibe. His latest effort is Smooth Podcast, a show that seeks to give out motivation by interviewing guests who are highly successful in their respective fields.

Michael Spearman aka the Big Fashion Guy is a big and tall fashion influencer. He’s a blogger, menswear designer, and wardrobe stylist. Spearman documents his adventures on his social media platforms and motivates his audience to be bold, confident, and most importantly, stylish. D. Hayes is a football athlete, model, and influencer who started uploading videos to social media during the pandemic. He became viral because of his hilarious and relatable TikTok videos. Regularly showcasing his take on various scenarios, he keeps audiences laughing.

5. Angela Davis

Angela Davis aka the Kitchenista is a popular chef and food blogger. She teaches her followers that having confidence in the kitchen is just as important as the recipes you cook. Davis keeps her recipes fresh with great spins on classic dishes like Baked Mac and Cheese, Grilled Lemon Pepper Wings, and Sweet Potato Cobbler. Over time, she’s done catering and live cooking demos amongst other things. Davis has authored several online cookbooks and has appeared in many publications for her work.
